I have been tossing around the idea for the new series of “Eat OUT”for a while now. The premise being, showcasing the best of the best of food eateries in an area, trying out new places, supporting local business while having some fun. The time just never seemed right to pull the trigger and do it. That was until we started to make plans for our New Orleans trip.
It made the most sense to me for the series to launch from there. The city has amazing food, most of which can’t be found anywhere else and food that I haven’t tried before. The other reason being the fact that so many places in the city are family owned and run. Perfect.
We set out that morning with the game plan of having Cafe Au Lait and some beignets at Cafe Du Monde. For me, there was no better spot to capture the vibe of the city while trying a delicious cup of coffee. Well, that didn’t work out. There was a 2 hour wait at their location in the French Quarter. We even popped over to some of the smaller coffee houses to pull off the filming but they had wait times that were equally as long. We had a time constraint on our end as well. We needed to start the long drive back home to Florida. So I took a minute to think.
We wanted to hit up Central Grocery to grab muffuletta for the ride home, so why not just combine the idea? Well that idea sounded perfect. For those of you that don’t know what the fuss is about, I offer up some information and history in the video. So without further ado, I present to you, the premier of Eat OUT:
What are your thoughts? Ever try Muffuletta? Anything in the video spark an interest? Have a local place that you want me to try out and review? Let me know.
