Eat UP: Wrigley Field Franks

Baseball season is here. As a kid we would already be playing baseball, well stick ball, out in streets since the first day of Spring Training. I don’t know if kids today play ball in the street anymore or stick ball for that matter. I do know that a great way to ring in the baseball year is with a hot dog and not just any hot dog either. I am going to celebrate in style, WOOOO, with a hot dog served up at Wrigley Field to honor the World Series Champions, The Chicago Cubs.

Ingredients:

  • 8 slices of bacon
  • 8 hot dogs (brand not important)
  • 8 buns (I went with top sliced)
  • 4 pieces of cheddar snack length cheese
  • tooth picks

Directions:

  • Preheat over to 450 degrees
  • Place foil on baking pan with mesh grill on top of that
  • Put slices of bacon on the mesh grill, make each slice be as long as possible
  • Cook bacon for 15 minutes, just keep checking on it. You don’t want it to over cook and not be bendable
  • While that is cooking, take a knife and slice open the top of the hot dogs and spread it open a little
  • Cut the cheese (HAHAHAHAAHAH) in half, lengthwise
  • Stuff the cheese inside of each hotdog
  • Take bacon out of the oven and let cool
  • Once cooled, wrap a slice of bacon around a hot dog
  • Use a few tooth picks to keep the bacon in place
  • Put wrapped hot dogs back on grill
  • Place grill back into the over for 10 minutes at 450
  • Remove from oven and let cool
  • Enjoy
