In search of….Pizza: Eddie & Sam’s

My autumn quest to find the best pizza in the Tampa Bay area continues. This time, we explore the offerings to the pizza Gods at Eddie & Sam’s New York Pizza. Accompanying Jen and I was Eat UP show sponsor & friend Michele Northrup from Intensity Academy Hot Sauce.

Michele has been telling about this place for a while now and I held off mainly because of the “New York Pizza” gimmick. I just thought that the every other pizza joint here puts those words in their title to get the Snow Birds to come in. Usually the pizza sucks eggs. Well, I am happy to say that I was wrong about this place.

Eddie & Sam’s pizza is the measuring stick for all New York City style pizza. Not just here in the Tampa Bay Area but anywhere that serves that style of pizza. Period. Hands down. Famous Ray’s? Back of the line. Lenny’s? Back of the line. Queen’s Pizza? Back of the line. Yes, they are miles apart from other local pizza spots claiming to serve NYC style pizza. The reason for that is they are using NYC water, which is the best tasting water in the world, to make their dough with. It is not a small thing. I am sure the task of getting the water here is not easy but it is well worth it.

Eddie and Sam’s pizza is some other best pizza around town. NYC style or not. Great pizza is great pizza. Thank you Eddie & Sam’s for proving that great pizza is not geographical.
